SLDMSITE06 is a Huawei microwave indoor unit for the RTN 905, supplied as a configured shelf rather than a bare chassis. The indoor unit sits in the equipment room and does the traffic work: it presents the customer interfaces, switches the Ethernet and TDM traffic, and drives the radio units on the tower over the intermediate-frequency cable.

What it presents. 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports on RJ45, 2 more on SFP, so you choose the optic or fit a copper module, 16 E1 circuits, 2 STM-1 ports, 1 intermediate-frequency port.

The IF port count is the figure to check first, because it sets how many radios this shelf can drive. One IF port means one radio unit, so this shelf supports a single unprotected hop. Hot-standby protection or a second direction needs another IF port, and on some configurations that means a different shelf rather than an added card.

The combination of E1 and Ethernet on one shelf is the point of this generation of microwave. It carries legacy TDM circuits and packet traffic over the same radio link, which lets an E1-based network migrate to packet gradually rather than being replaced wholesale. If you are maintaining a network with both, that is the capability you are paying for.

Installation materials are included, worth noting because they are often a separate line item and the first thing cut when quotes are compared side by side. Removing them does not make the install cheaper; it moves the cost to the day the engineer is on site without the cabling and earthing kit.

The RTN 905 is a Huawei microwave platform, and its lifecycle status is genuinely unclear. Huawei’s RTN line as a whole is still an active product family, but the position of this particular model could not be established: Huawei’s lifecycle database sits behind a login and model-level end-of-sale and end-of-support dates are not published openly.

So this page will not tell you the platform is current and will not tell you it is finished, because neither can be checked from outside. If that distinction matters to your purchase, and on microwave it often does because licensed-band links tend to live for a decade, ask us to confirm it with Huawei before you commit.

What to confirm before ordering. Which shelf and software release this is going into, how many radios it has to serve, and whether the capacity you want is also licensed, because Huawei caps microwave throughput by licence as well as by configuration. A shelf physically capable of a rate it is not licensed for looks like a fault and is not one.
