SLE500T1000M is a software licence for the Huawei RTN 380, not a physical item. Nothing is shipped: a key is issued and applied to equipment you already have, usually through the network management system.

It raises the capacity ceiling from 500 Mbit/s to 1000 Mbit/s. The hardware does not change. Huawei caps throughput in software and sells the cap, which means a link can be bought at a modest rate and uplifted when traffic grows, with no site visit and no outage. The flip side is worth being clear-eyed about: you are buying a number, and the equipment was always physically capable of it. On a microwave link there is also a path question, because a higher rate generally needs a higher-order modulation and that needs a better signal-to-noise ratio. If the hop is already close to its fade margin the licence will raise the ceiling but the path may not reach it in bad weather.

How to check what you already have. Feature and capacity licences accumulate on transmission equipment over the years and are rarely documented well, so the first question is whether this is already enabled. The equipment itself reports its licence state through the network management system, and that reading is authoritative in a way purchase records are not. Doing it before buying avoids paying for a licence that is already applied, which is a common way to spend money and change nothing.

The RTN 380 is a Huawei microwave platform, and its lifecycle status is genuinely unclear. Huawei’s RTN line as a whole is still an active product family, but the position of this particular model could not be established: Huawei’s lifecycle database sits behind a login and model-level end-of-sale and end-of-support dates are not published openly.

So this page will not tell you the platform is current and will not tell you it is finished, because neither can be checked from outside. If that distinction matters to your purchase, and on microwave it often does because licensed-band links tend to live for a decade, ask us to confirm it with Huawei before you commit.

Two further constraints apply. A licence is issued against a specific piece of equipment and generally cannot be moved, so if the unit is replaced or fails the licence does not follow it, which matters when planning spares. And licences are usually tied to a software release range, so equipment you then upgrade may need the licence revisited at the same time.
