HPE P06476-B21 is a ProLiant DL20 Gen10 G5400 3.7GHz 2-core 1P 8GB-U 2LFF NHP 290W PS Entry Server. It belongs to the ProLiant DL20 Gen10 Server range.
What to check before you buy. Three things decide whether a server will suit the job. The generation, because the processors, memory and controllers that fit one generation generally do not fit the next even where the chassis looks identical. The drive configuration, because a chassis built for small form factor disks cannot take large form factor ones without a different cage and backplane. And how it is specified to be populated, since a second processor usually needs its own heatsink and may enable memory slots that are otherwise unusable. It is also worth asking what is physically included: rails, bezel, drive carriers and the remote management licence are all commonly sold separately from the chassis.
How we supply it. Supplied new where available, otherwise as tested stock with warranty, subject to availability. If you are unsure whether this is the right part, give us the model it is going into and we will confirm it. Quotes by the next working day.
This is HPE part P06476-B21: an HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10, supplied as a complete, pre-configured server rather than a chassis to specify yourself — Intel G5400 (2 cores, 3.7 GHz); 8 GB UDIMM; 2 x 3.5-inch (LFF), non-hot-plug.
The HPE ProLiant DL20 is the smallest rack server HPE makes, a single-socket 1U box for a branch office, an edge site or a role that needs to be rack-mounted without taking rack space.
What is in this configuration

| Processor | Intel G5400 |
| Cores per processor | 2 |
| Base clock | 3.7 GHz |
| Processors fitted | 1 of 1 |
| Memory | 8 GB UDIMM, unbuffered |
| Drive bays | 2 x 3.5-inch (LFF), non-hot-plug |
| Power supply | 290 W |
This server ships with unbuffered memory
The -U suffix means UDIMM, unbuffered memory. UDIMMs are the cheaper option and they are what the smallest ProLiant models use, but they cap the server’s total memory well below what registered memory allows, and the two types cannot be mixed. If there is any chance this server will need a large memory upgrade later, that ceiling is the thing to check now rather than after you have bought the DIMMs.
Power supplies, and whether this build is redundant
This build lists a single 290 W power supply and no redundant cage. On the smaller ProLiant chassis these supplies are often not hot-plug either, so a failure means downtime and a visit. If this server matters, tell us and we will check whether the chassis supports a redundant pair.
Drive bays
These are 3.5-inch (LFF) bays. Large-form-factor bays take the big nearline drives, which is the cheaper route to bulk capacity and the usual choice for backup targets and archives. Note that these bays are non-hot-plug. Changing a disk means powering the server down and opening it, which matters more than it sounds: a failed drive becomes scheduled downtime rather than a five-minute job. If this server needs to stay up through a disk replacement, tell us and we will quote a hot-plug configuration instead.
Worth checking before you order
- These drive bays are non-hot-plug. Replacing a disk means powering the server down. Ask us for a hot-plug configuration if that is a problem.
- Unbuffered memory caps total capacity lower than registered memory does, and the two cannot be mixed. Check the ceiling against where the workload is going.
- Single power supply, no redundancy. Ask us before you assume this chassis takes a second one.
- Pre-configured does not mean fixed. We can change the memory, drives, controller or network adapters before despatch, which is usually cheaper than buying the base build and upgrading it afterwards. Tell us what it needs to do.
- Drives are not normally included in these configurations. Confirm what you need and we will quote them with the server so the caddies and firmware match.
- Tell us what this server is replacing and what it has to run, and we will confirm this build is the right one rather than just the one you found.
