LSSRASON06 is a software licence for the Huawei OSN 1500A, not a physical item. Nothing is shipped: a key is issued and applied to equipment you already have, usually through the network management system.

ASON is the control-plane function that lets an optical network route around a failure by itself. Instead of an operator working out a new path and configuring it hop by hop, the nodes exchange topology and availability information and establish a replacement path automatically. On a mesh of any size that is the difference between a restoration measured in minutes and one measured in hours. It is licensed rather than included, so a network can be built with the hardware capable of it and the function enabled later, which is a common staging decision.

How to check what you already have. Feature and capacity licences accumulate on transmission equipment over the years and are rarely documented well, so the first question is whether this is already enabled. The equipment itself reports its licence state through the network management system, and that reading is authoritative in a way purchase records are not. Doing it before buying avoids paying for a licence that is already applied, which is a common way to spend money and change nothing.

Two further constraints apply. A licence is issued against a specific piece of equipment and generally cannot be moved, so if the unit is replaced or fails the licence does not follow it, which matters when planning spares. And licences are usually tied to a software release range, so equipment you then upgrade may need the licence revisited at the same time.
