LIC-IPSAVURL-36-USG6300-02 is a bundled IPS, anti-virus and URL filtering subscription for the Huawei USG6300, running for three years, hardware variant 02. The USG6300 is a desktop and small-branch firewall from Huawei’s USG6000 generation.

Huawei calls this a function group: the three signature and database feeds bought together rather than separately. It is usually cheaper than three individual subscriptions and it keeps their expiry dates aligned, which is worth something in itself.

The question to settle before buying any signature subscription. A subscription like this is only worth what the vendor is still publishing for the platform it covers. Buying three years of updates for an appliance that is no longer receiving them delivers nothing, however valid the part number looks on a price list. So before we quote this we will confirm with Huawei that the feed is still being issued for your specific appliance and software version. If it is not, we will tell you, and the honest answer may be that the money is better spent on a platform that is still being fed.

Where this platform stands. The USG6300 is no longer in Huawei’s current catalogue, which now runs to the HiSecEngine USG6500E, USG6500F and USG6500F-DL. We could not retrieve a published end-of-sale or end-of-support date for it: Huawei keeps its lifecycle database behind a login, so we can tell you the product has gone from the catalogue but not the day it went. If the exact dates matter — and for a compliance audit or an insurance question they usually do — say so and we will get them confirmed through Huawei directly.

None of that means the part is useless. Plenty of these appliances are still in service and still doing their job, and keeping an existing deployment running is a perfectly good reason to buy. It does mean we would rather sell you this with the lifecycle position on the table than without it.
