LIC-AV-36-NIP2100 is an anti-virus signature update subscription for the Huawei NIP2100, running for three years. The NIP2100 is a standalone Huawei network intrusion prevention appliance.

The firewall can scan files in transit for malware, but only against the signature set it holds. This subscription is the feed that keeps that set current.

The question to settle before buying any signature subscription. A subscription like this is only worth what the vendor is still publishing for the platform it covers. Buying three years of updates for an appliance that is no longer receiving them delivers nothing, however valid the part number looks on a price list. So before we quote this we will confirm with Huawei that the feed is still being issued for your specific appliance and software version. If it is not, we will tell you, and the honest answer may be that the money is better spent on a platform that is still being fed.

Where this platform stands. The NIP2100 is no longer in Huawei’s current catalogue, which now runs to nothing directly — Huawei names no successor to the NIP appliance line. We could not retrieve a published end-of-sale or end-of-support date for it: Huawei keeps its lifecycle database behind a login, so we can tell you the product has gone from the catalogue but not the day it went. If the exact dates matter — and for a compliance audit or an insurance question they usually do — say so and we will get them confirmed through Huawei directly.

None of that means the part is useless. Plenty of these appliances are still in service and still doing their job, and keeping an existing deployment running is a perfectly good reason to buy. It does mean we would rather sell you this with the lifecycle position on the table than without it.
