Cisco 857W-G-E-K9 Router | ADSL Wireless Router for Small Business UK

Cisco 857W-G-E-K9 Router | ADSL Wireless Router for Small Business UK is an enterprise Cisco router.

It includes wireless. On a combined router and access point the wireless is a convenience rather than a serious wireless deployment: one radio in the same box covers a room or a small office well and a building badly, and where coverage matters the answer is usually a router plus separate access points.

It terminates ADSL directly, which saves a separate modem. The thing to check is the line: copper broadband is being switched off progressively across the UK and Europe, so for a new installation it is worth confirming the circuit will outlive the equipment.

This listing carries no specification text, which is why this page describes the family rather than the exact configuration. Routers of the same model were frequently sold in several configurations differing in memory, interface cards, power supply and licensing, and those differences matter more than the model name does. We can pull the exact specification for this part number from the vendor’s own database before you order.

Three questions worth answering before any router purchase, whatever the model. What the throughput requirement actually is with your feature set enabled, rather than the datasheet figure measured without it. Whether the features you need are licensed as well as present, since on most platforms security and performance are separate entitlements. And how many slots or ports you will need in three years, because adding capacity is cheap and replacing a chassis is not.

Tell us what the router has to do, the circuits it has to terminate, the throughput you are designing to and whether you need the security features licensed. We would rather size it from the requirement than from a part number, because the two commonest mistakes on a router purchase are buying throughput that turns out to need a licence and buying a chassis with no slots left.

Green Code Technologies is a supplier of Cisco, and we supply Huawei and Juniper networking alongside HPE, Dell, Samsung, Netgear, Ubiquiti and Asus. We would rather tell you a part is no longer supported, or that we need to check it, than take an order for something that will not do what you need.

The Cisco 857W-G-E-K9 Integrated Services Router delivers secure and reliable internet connectivity for small business and branch office environments. Cisco built this device on the ISR 800 Series platform to combine routing, switching, wireless access, and security features in a single compact unit.

This router supports ADSL2/2+ broadband connections, so it enables internet access over standard telephone copper lines. It also provides stable WAN connectivity for small offices that need consistent and cost-effective broadband performance.

In addition, the device includes built-in wireless LAN functionality, which allows users to connect laptops, mobile devices, and other wireless endpoints without external access points. It also provides multiple Ethernet LAN ports, so businesses can connect wired devices such as desktops, printers, and VoIP phones.

Cisco integrates security features such as firewall protection and VPN support into this platform. As a result, small businesses can secure remote connections and protect internal network traffic. Furthermore, administrators can manage network access and apply security policies more effectively.

Overall, the Cisco 857W-G-E-K9 suits small business offices, retail environments, and branch deployments where organizations need integrated ADSL connectivity, wireless access, and basic enterprise-grade security in one device.
