SSR1EOW04 is an engineering order wire board for Huawei transmission equipment, on the OSN 1500B.

The engineering order wire is the maintenance voice circuit between sites: a telephone path built into the transmission system itself, so engineers at two ends of a span can talk to each other without relying on the public network or on mobile coverage. It sounds archaic and it is still genuinely useful, because the places transmission equipment lives are frequently places where a mobile phone does not work, and the moment you need to coordinate two ends of a span is exactly the moment the circuit you were testing is down. On some platforms this function is restricted to the master subrack, so check where it has to sit rather than assuming any shelf will do.

Auxiliary boards are the ones that hold up a commissioning visit. They carry no customer traffic, so they are easy to leave off a bill of materials, and they are frequently restricted to particular slots or to a master subrack.
