The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR590 (SKU: LENOVOSR590005) is a 2U rack server designed for enterprise and data center workloads. It belongs to the SR500 series and targets virtualization, cloud computing, and general IT infrastructure.
This platform supports up to 2× Intel Xeon Scalable processors. As a result, it delivers balanced compute performance for mixed workloads. In addition, it supports up to 1TB of TruDDR4 memory across multiple DIMM slots. This enables efficient handling of standard enterprise applications and data processing tasks.
The system provides flexible storage architecture. It supports up to 16× 2.5″ or up to 14× 3.5″ hot-swappable drive bays. Moreover, it supports NVMe SSDs through AnyBay technology, which allows SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives in the same configuration. It also supports up to 2× M.2 drives for OS boot. This improves both performance and deployment flexibility.
For networking, the SR590 includes 2× 1GbE standard ports with additional expansion via LOM and PCIe adapters. Furthermore, it supports higher-speed connectivity such as 10GbE through optional adapters. It also provides up to 6 PCIe 3.0 slots for I/O expansion and accelerator integration.
The SR590 fits enterprise data centers, SMB environments, and branch deployments. It works well as a virtualization host, application server, or web and collaboration platform. Additionally, it supports VMware, Hyper-V, Linux distributions, and Lenovo XClarity for centralized management.
For reliability, the system includes redundant hot-swappable power supplies (550W/750W options). It also uses hot-swappable drives and fans to ensure continuous operation. Overall, it delivers balanced performance, scalability, and high availability in a 2U form factor.
