The Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition (UDM-SE) is an all-in-one enterprise gateway designed for unified network and security management. It combines routing, switching, security, and application hosting in a single rack-mount appliance, making it suitable for enterprise, SMB, and advanced home deployments.
The UDM-SE integrates a high-performance security gateway with advanced Layer 3 routing and firewall capabilities. It supports deep packet inspection (DPI), intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS), and VLAN segmentation. As a result, it delivers secure and efficient network traffic control.
This device includes an integrated 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with PoE support. It provides 2× PoE+ and 6× PoE ports, enabling direct connection of UniFi access points, IP cameras, and VoIP devices. In addition, it features 2× 10GbE SFP+ ports for high-speed uplinks or aggregation.
For storage, the UDM-SE includes a built-in 128GB SSD. It also provides a 3.5″ HDD bay for UniFi Protect video storage. Therefore, it supports local NVR functionality for surveillance deployments.
The system runs UniFi OS. It hosts multiple applications, including UniFi Network, UniFi Protect, UniFi Access, and UniFi Talk. As a result, it enables centralized management of networking, video surveillance, access control, and VoIP systems from a single interface.
For connectivity, the device includes a 2.5GbE WAN port. This supports high-speed internet connections. It also includes a dedicated management interface and supports remote cloud access via the UniFi platform.
